The Board of Directors of the i2b2 TranSMART Foundation has appointed David Dimond of Dell EMC corporation to the Board.

Dave is Chief Innovation and Technology Officer for Dell EMC Global Healthcare and Life Sciences with a focus on delivery of cloud based platforms for healthcare and life sciences and big data for precision medicine solutions.  Dave’s charter is to establish alliance partner collaborations to drive joint engineering, development and commercialization of data intensive cloud-based platforms for healthcare. Dave was previously strategic advisor to several healthcare startups and investment banks while co-founding WhatNext, a social media platform for sharing patient experience aligned with the American Cancer Society and philanthropic organizations.

Before joining Dell EMC, Dave was a strategic advisor to several healthcare ISVs, startups, and investment banks while co-founding WhatNext, a social media platform for patient experience mining and medical language discovery which is aligned with the American Cancer Society and several other healthcare and life science organizations. Prior to this, Dave was the Senior Vice President of Product Innovation at Technology Solution Company (TSC) where he drove new business and product development. While at TSC, he also founded new lines of business including their Healthcare Solutions Group along with several product offerings. Overall, Dave has 15 years of technology solutions and services development experience and was a Vice President, Technical Master V and National Practice Leader at the leading Healthcare and Life Sciences firm First Consulting Group. Dave has written numerous articles, technical white papers, book chapters, and has taught a number of technology courses over his extensive career. He has a MS in Engineering Management from Northeastern University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. His is an Adjunct Professor at the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in the MBA program with a focus on the business of healthcare technology and analytics and is the Chairman the Health Delivery Institute Advisory Board at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he guides the growth of their Living Lab Launchpad for research, innovation and commercialization. In addition, at Dell EMC, Dave is leading a GenNext employee resource group initiated to develop tools and novel methods for mass mentoring of diverse / young-in-career employees.
